Outreach at St. Andrew's
St Andrews serves the community in many different ways. We are still collecting jars of peanut butter and cash donations for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry that serves Middletown. We collect all types of items for the North Branford/Northford Food Pantry as well as support their Community Dinners.
At this time of year we also make a donation to the North Branford Scholarship Fund. While the vestry makes a donation of $100.00 anyone wishing to make an additional donation to increate that amount is welcome to do so. Pelase contact Wanda Williams concerning the scholarship.
Twice a year the cluster serves a meal at St. Vincent de Paul. This spring, April 15, St. Andrew's will be in charge of dessert. Dessert is everything from brownies to fruit. Desserts will be bring up to the soup kitchen around 4:00. If you would like to serve, deliver the desserts or just donate a dessert let Leslie Williams know.
Greeters Group
This is a one-time meeting of people interested in making visitors and new members feel welcome at St. Andrew's. We will meet after services on April 22. Peter Floyd will join us at 12:00 for a potluck lunch and work session. This meeting shouldn't take much more than one and a half hours. Peter is excited to meet with us and get to work. All the other churches have had this workshop and are moving ahead. Let's Not Be Left Behind!!
Pledge Cards
Thank you to all that returned your pledge cards. Many have not. We sent out 40 cards and have only received 19 in return. Please, if you have not returned yours please use this holiday season as a time to do so. St Andrew's is here for everyone and everyone shuld help keep the doors open. We run on a very tight budget and any extra money must come from our endowments. Please help us meet our responsibilities.
Ways to Help Out at St. Andrews
We have many 'job openings' right now. Remember any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Toni Foucaud is always looking for more people to be Greeters, Readers, Chalice Bearers, and Altar Guild members.
Grace Krom is doing wonderful work with the children, but could always use a helping hand. She is also trying to reach out to some of the older children. If you have a way with teenagers Grace could use your help.
We have a few toddlers in our midst these days, their parents might appreciate a break during church, if only for the sermon. It is a joy to have them but their parents might welcome the break.
Coffee Hour has gotten to be a little out of hand with the amount of food, but don't let that stop you. Some people have been teaming up to lessen the workload. Don't worry, we don't turn our noses up at anything!!
We are blessed to have Ray Bishop as our Musical Director and he and his ladies work very hard, but they would be pleased to have a few more members. Talk to Ray if you are interested in adding your voice.
On a more serious note, we are in need of some Vestry Members. We meet once a month on the 4th Tuesday of the month. We would welcome anyone who was interested finding out more about being on the Vestry. If you are interested please talk with Leslie Williams or Dean Heath.
Senior Warden Message
The darkess of Lent and winter are coming to an end. We can see the light of Easter and blossoming of spring around the corner. We have had a warm winter at St. Andrew's with our new furnace and old friends. We have also welcomed some new friends this year and they are adding their warmth and light to our parish. I hope you will all share God's love as we celebrate his gift of the resurrection this Easter season.
